Kids 3mm Origin Shorty Wetsuit - Red

What thickness wetsuit do I need for UK waters?

The right wetsuit thickness depends on the water temperature and time of year. For most of the UK, a 3/2mm wetsuit is ideal for summer, while a 5/4mm or 5mm wetsuit offers better insulation for spring, autumn, and winter surfing. Osprey wetsuits are designed with British waters in mind, giving you the right balance of flexibility and warmth.

How should a wetsuit fit?

A wetsuit should feel snug all over without restricting movement. It should be tight enough to trap a thin layer of water between your body and the neoprene but not so tight that it’s uncomfortable or causes chafing. Osprey wetsuits are built to offer a performance fit for all-day comfort in the water.

Can I use an Osprey wetsuit for surfing, paddleboarding, and other water sports?

Yes! Osprey wetsuits are designed for multi-sport performance and can be used for surfing, bodyboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking, and wild swimming. With flexible neoprene panels and flatlock stitching, they’re built to handle a variety of action sports.

How do I care for and clean my wetsuit?

Rinse your wetsuit with fresh, cool water after each use. Avoid hot water, direct sunlight, or tumble dryers, as these can damage the neoprene. Hang it to dry inside out on a wide hanger to prevent creasing. With the right care, your Osprey wetsuit can last season after season.

How do wetsuits work?

Wetsuits work by trapping a thin layer of water between your skin and the neoprene material. Your body naturally heats this water, creating an insulating barrier that helps keep you warm in cold water. Osprey wetsuits use high-quality neoprene and strategically placed seams to minimise water flushing while maximising comfort and flexibility, so you stay warmer for longer during your surf or swim session.

What’s the benefit of a full length wetsuit?

Full length wetsuits provide maximum coverage and warmth for colder conditions. Ideal for spring, autumn, winter, and cooler summer days in the UK. Osprey full length wetsuits feature durable knee pads, wind-resistant chest panels, and ergonomic seams to keep you warm and mobile in chilly waters.

When should I wear a shorty wetsuit?

Short length wetsuits, or shortys, are perfect for warm summer days or holiday surf trips where the water temperature is mild. They offer core warmth with greater arm and leg freedom. Osprey shorty wetsuits are lightweight, quick-drying, and great for active beach days, paddleboarding, or light surf sessions.
