Shania Raphael

Nationality: German

Date of Birth: 23rd September 2000

What is your most memorable moment in your sports?

Being on Sao Vicente (Cabo Verde, West Africa) for five weeks without my parents. I learned a lot; not only for windsurfing but also for life.

Favourite conditions?

Flatwater or 10ft clean waves with 30knots of constant wind.

Favourite toys?

4.4m² Sailloft Quad and a 16cm Maui Ultra Fins Style Pro.

What is your diet like?

I eat a lot of vegetables and fruit.

What things do you currently do in your training that are key to your success

I try to get on the water as much as possible and always try to get some footage that I can analyze after my sessions so I can see what I’m doing wrong.

Best advice anyone’s ever given you?

Always keep going, no matter what happens and stay positive.

Do you have a saying or motto you live life by?

Don’t care too much about unimportant things, stay calm and enjoy every moment in life.

What is your biggest challenge, and how do you manage it?

For me it’s hard to get to the water as I don’t have a drivers license yet and flying / staying alone somewhere isn’t always the easiest thing. Most of the time my dad goes with me or I go with friends.

What would be your ultimate achievement

Still be windsurfing when I’m old and wrinkly and have a happy life.
