Osprey are very proud to be involved with the first ever Celtic Crossing as an official partner!
This radical and extremely risky 50km paddle event will take place between the Isles of Scilly and Sennen Beach on UK main land on the 17th May 2014.
The open water between these two land masses is some of the most dangerous and busiest stretches of ocean in the world, and 5 of the water sports world’s elite will be undertaking the challenge; including big wave surfer and Osprey team rider Tom Butler!
Tom will be donning his signature osprey suit and swapping fins and waves for paddle power as he and the rest of the athletes attempt to set five records for the fastest man powered crossings between the Scilly’s and Sennen Beach; combatting currents, the elements and shipping traffic in one of the most daring open ocean races in the world and the only race between land masses in Europe!
Tom and the rest of the crew will be hoping to rack up a gruelling 6 hours of paddling time, and will be supported by a flotilla of water safety craft and crew who will also help provide media coverage.
